Desk Notes: News Roundup, November 6, 2026

Two big card releases land a week apart, and the Diamond warehouse fight is close to settled. Here's what's new from the past couple of weeks.

Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek prereleases start today. Prereleases run November 6 to 12, and the set hits MTG Arena and Magic Online on Tuesday, November 10. The tabletop release is Friday, November 13, with four Commander decks and Collector's Edition versions of them. One catch: Wizards says the North American Commander decks are delayed and may arrive after the tabletop release date.

Pokémon's Delta Reign is out today. Mega Evolution—Delta Reign has more than 135 cards, led by Mega Rayquaza ex, Mega Rayquaza's first time in the Pokémon TCG since XY—Ancient Origins. The new part is Legendary Stadiums: two Stadium cards played as a pair whose art joins up, and packs that have one include both halves. Three 30th Celebration products (the Ultra-Premium Collection, the Ditto Premium Collection and the Figure Collection) also come out today.

A Magic movie has its first cast member. Deadline and independent reporter Daniel Richtmann report that Maya Hawke (Stranger Things) has been cast in a lead role in Legendary and Hasbro's live-action Magic: The Gathering movie, directed by Matt Johnson. Her role hasn't been announced.

Extra Life Secret Lair. Wizards' charity drop, Rise of the Polygons | Extra Life 2026, goes on sale at MagicSecretLair.com on November 16 and runs until 1 a.m. PT on November 30. Wizards says 50% of the purchase price, less third-party transaction fees, goes to Children's Miracle Network through the Our Change Foundation.

The Diamond warehouse fight is nearly settled. The bankruptcy court approved two settlements that let publishers reclaim consignment stock stuck in the old Diamond warehouse in Olive Branch, Mississippi. The first, covering a group that includes Oni, Titan and Dark Horse, was approved Monday, October 26, with Sparkle Pop, which bought Diamond's assets, as a party. The second, for a group that includes BOOM!, Dynamite and Fantagraphics, was approved Thursday, October 29, after Sparkle Pop withdrew its objection. ICv2 estimates all the consignment stock in the warehouse at nearly $50 million at cost. Product can begin moving now, but publishers still have to send people in to find and pack their own books. According to TCJ and The Beat, Sparkle Pop gets whatever isn't claimed.

Indie distributor Philbo is changing its terms for 2027. Philbo Distribution is moving to a flat 50% retailer discount with no minimums, adding limited returns and cutting its final order cutoff from 60 days to 30. Bleeding Cool says returns must be made within 30 days. A printed retailer catalog launches in January.
