About this card
1955 Topps Al Kaline #4 baseball card.
This copy is graded SGC 5 EX. The photos show this exact slab.
This is an older SGC holder: the green label reads 1955 Topps #4 Al Kaline and prints both SGC's former 100-point score, 60, and the 10-point grade, EX 5. The card is a horizontal design showing Kaline as an outfielder for the Detroit Tigers, with a facsimile signature printed as part of the card design. In 1955, the year of this card, Kaline hit .340 to win the American League batting title at age 20, which the Baseball Hall of Fame records as the youngest batting champion in history, and he led the league with 200 hits. He played all 22 of his big league seasons with the Tigers, finished with 3,007 hits and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1980. SGC grades cards on a 1 to 10 scale in half-point steps, with 10 Pristine at the top. The certification number, 1198558-017, is printed on the label and can be looked up on SGC's website.
